I am a self taught artist and have always loved and appreciated wildlife art. My subjects include birds and animals in both pastel and graphite mediums.
My early inspiration for bird art , came from Dick Findlay who did a series of water colour paintings of South African bushveld birds in the early 1970’s. For that period, the paintings were extremely detailed and depicted the birds in their natural habitat with a simple black and white background.
When I started painting, I used watercolour which is one of the more difficult mediums with very little room for error. I was then introduced to pastel which is very compatible to wild life art. I have also recently started using graphite pencils which give a different look and feel to wildlife subjects.
Being a wildlife photographer is an advantage in that I can use my photographic images as art references. My work has been sold in South Africa, Australia and United Kingdom.
Here is a limited selection of my work and I am available to undertake commissions .
